Over the past decade, the Berks Conservancy has focused on creating and providing educational activities (for both children and adults) where there was a void. This proactive educational model is based upon addressing the degradation of our land and water resources now, before they become “critical”. Our team quickly realized that we could reach and influence many more people if we had a central place to demonstrate conservation. In 2010 we determined that the organization needed a facility that allows for better demonstrating who we are and what we do; and proactively making conservation more “real” for the people of Berks County and beyond.

Our current location does not provide the space for the staff to functionally work together, does not have conference room capabilities for greater than 8 visitors, and has no space for outdoor project staging, preparation, demonstration, or education. One facility capable of hosting all of these activities will greatly improve the cost-effectiveness of our services and use of our limited resources.

With its proximity to the Schuylkill River, 85,000+ residents, the Schuylkill River Trail, Angelica Creek and Angelica Creek Trail the park is a perfect location to bring together partners around issues of conservation.

The Berks Conservancy will enable Angelica Park to be a safer, well-maintained public asset that includes educational programs and learning opportunities that are not there now. With over 90 acres of open space, the park is home to woodlands, wetlands, diverse wildlife, Angelica Creek and access to miles of trails in the Greater Reading area.
