Volunteers Role
Volunteers provide maintenance on the trail system in a non-enforcement role. They will offer information to trail users, advising on trail etiquette, will record and report any problems on the trails to the trail manager and will take an active role in protecting the safety and beauty of the trails.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old , commit to at least 3 hours a week from April to October and be able to communicate with the trail manager about potential issues.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in pre-volunteer training with the trail manager and complete all paperwork
- Become familiar with the trail systems
- Interact with trail users in a friendly and courteous manner
- Report problems and concerns with the trails directly to the trail manager immediately
- Complete appropriate timesheet and submit it on a monthly basis
- Use approved equipment for proper clean up of trash and debris on the trails

Neversink Mountain Preserve
Opportunities: Hiking
This 500-acre preserve has over 8 miles of trails divided into hiking loops that connect trails from one end of the mountain to the other. Neversink Mountain is bordered on the south by the Schuylkill River and to the north by the City of Reading. Neversink provides breathtaking vistas for your enjoyment, most popular are the City Overlook and the Witches Hat (McIlvain Pavilion).
Neversink Trail (Riverfront to Heritage Park)

Approximately 1.6 miles from RACC bridge thru River Front Park under Bingaman St Bridge to Heritage Park across from Canal St Pub. Includes the 3/10 mile 3rd & Spruce Recreation Center Trail and two canoe launches along the Schuylkill River.
Earl Poole Sanctuary

Earl Poole Sanctuary is a 30+ acre Conservancy-owned property
located in Alsace Township. The site is located in the Antietam Creek Watershed and is managed for wildlife. Over one mile of trail traverses the sanctuary.
Gravity Trail
Opportunities: Hiking, Biking
An over 4 mile trail connecting Neversink Mountain Preserve to Antietam Lake County Park. The path follows city streets and winds its way through Pendora, Mineral Spring,& Egelman’s Park. Users then experience the headwaters of Rose Creek, a historic wine cellar and then enter the Antietam Lake County Park.
Angelica Trail

A one mile trail connects Kenhorst Borough, Angelica Creek Park and the Schuylkill River Trail. Users can walk, bike, and enjoy the wonderful pathway to the city owned Angelica Creek Park.
Schuylkill River Trail (Buttonwood St to Angelica Creek Trail)

Approximately 3 miles, from Buttonwood St Bridge along River Road thru RACC campus, across RACC bridge, Bertolet Dock, Brentwood Parking to Angelica Creek Trailhead.
Wyomissing Creek Trail (Schuylkill River Trail to Museum Rd.)

1.5 miles from Schuylkill River Trail on Old Wyomissing Road to Museum Road across from Reading Public Museum.
