Spend the afternoon sitting by the Schuylkill River while finding an active way to bring its value to light in literary form. Observe the subtleties of the river and its aesthetic and environmental characteristics in order to write about the water in poem form.
Examples of river poems will be read at the beginning of the workshop to help everyone get a better grasp for this concept and how to tie their individuality and creativity, related to valuing our local river, into the event for themselves and for those they’ll be connecting with through experimenting with river language in a community-oriented effort.
We will discuss river language and pursue free writing in order to create poetic lines, in the moment, inspired by the river and connecting with it at an emotional level through this intentional, caring and conscious approach.
Please bring a notebook, notepad, or journal; writing utensils.
